webcamOnTop Readme
View your favorite webcam in a window that will always stay on top! Surf the web
or read email while keeping an eye on the action. Great for use with home
security systems. Works with AXIS
2100, 2120, 2400, 2401, 2420, 241S, 242S, 240Q, 241Q devices and cameras, Panasonic Network Cameras,
webcamXP or the URL of any live image.
Also useful to display network monitors, weather radar, or any web content you don’t want to miss.
webcamOnTop will not work directly with USB style webcams (like those sold by Linksys or Microsoft) unless a
third-party application makes the image stream available at a web (http://something) address.
Requirements:
webcamOnTop runs on Windows 2000/XP/2003 with IE 5 or later.
Installation:
Download
webcamOnTop
1) Run wcontop-setup.exe and follow the wizard
2) Launch webcamOnTop in any of the following ways...
Start Menu: Programs, webcamOnTop, webcamOnTop icon (also edit the webcam.ini file as indicated below)
Command line: webcam.exe http://www.jpelectron.com/wcot/weblnk.htm
Remotely: psexec \\computername -d -i -w "C:\Program Files\webcamOnTop" "C:\Program Files\webcamOnTop\webcam.exe" http://www.jpelectron.com/wcot/weblnk.htm
Webpage link: webcamontop://www.jpelectron.com/wcot/weblnk.htm
For consistancy and awareness we suggest you use the following image when linking to open webcamOnTop directly:

.ini Settings:
The file path or URL in webcam.ini is used for all users on a machine, or whenever a file/URL is not included
as a parameter with the executable. Using shortcuts with a parameter provides a way to customize
the view for different windows users.
Edit webcam.ini in the directory with the webcamOnTop executable, this is usually C:\Program Files\webcamOnTop
unless you put it somewhere else. Sample files, shown in the examples below, can be downloaded by
right-clicking on the link and picking save target as. Use the file or URL that matches your type
of camera and insert the line in webcam.ini (in place of http://www.jpelectron.com/wcot/setup.htm)
Only one file location (referenced on the local disk, network by drive letter, or URL) can be used in the webcam.ini file.
C:\Program Files\webcamOnTop\axis.htm
For use with all AXIS cameras and video servers
(you must also modify the axis.htm file)
To retrieve a static image from AXIS cameras and video servers see:
settings- AXIS jpg Request.txt
C:\Program Files\webcamOnTop\axisptz.htm
For use with AXIS cameras and video servers that have PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera heads attached
This functionality allows you to move the camera by clicking
around on the video stream and using the mouse scroll-wheel to zoom in and out
(you must also modify the axisptz.htm file)
C:\Program Files\webcamOnTop\refresh.htm
For use with still-image webcams
(you must also modify the refresh.htm file)
http://[ip-address]:[port]/ImageViewer?Mode=Motion&Resolution=320x240
http://[ip-address]:[port]/cgi-bin/camera (for newer cameras like the WV-NS202A)
http://[username]:[password]@[ip-address]:[port]/cgi-bin/camera (include your login info)

C:\Program Files\webcamOnTop\select.htm
Used to select between multiple webcam feeds
(you must also modify the select.htm file to point to your other various camera files)
* If you are using port 80, the default www port, you do not need to specify it.
Example: http://192.168.0.4:80/ is the same as http://192.168.0.4/
Some cameras or software may use an alternate port such as 8080.
Example: http://192.168.0.4:8080/
You can also specify a value in seconds for AutoClose=X in the webcam.ini file, this
will cause webcamOnTop to close X seconds after it is launched. (unless a
special HTML tag with close=X is encountered, then that value will take precedence)
Usage:
webcamOnTop can be resized by clicking and dragging the bottom-right corner of
the window, this preference along with window location is saved in the registry for the next
launch. To automatically resize the window add the special tag <webcamontop width="362"
height="295"> to the HTML file being displayed. When webcamOnTop sees this
tag it will resize to the width and height specified.
Adding close="X" to the special tag of the HTML file will cause webcamOnTop to close after the
specified number of seconds. This is useful to conserve bandwidth to a
camera if someone leaves webcamOnTop running. The close option can be used
alone as <webcamontop close="10"> or with size declarations as <webcamontop
width="640" height="480" close="10">
When webcamOnTop is the active window you can...
